Craig Biggio Falls Short of Hall of Fame by 2 Votes; others not that close to Cooperstown

It looked as if the entire week we expected Houston Astros’ great Craig Biggio to be announced as a Hall of Famer. However, it wasn’t to be in 2014. Biggio just missed the Hall of Fame by two votes as he finished with 74.8 percent.

Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and Frank Thomas were announced as making it into the Hall of Fame on Wednesday. As for the others who missed out, their status doesn’t look too promising in the near future.

HOF Voting Numbers

  • Jack Morris‘ future candidacy will be decided by the Hall of Fame Veteran’s committee as a player is only eligible for 15 years on the ballot.
  • The main players who are linked to Performance Enhancing Drugs: Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire are in the Bermuda Triangle of percentage status. It doesn’t look like they have any upside as to making Cooperstown.
